wuts the bible? a book sum people wrote, and kept adding on more stuff to go with what was happening at that time. to be its basically a book of morals, just lyke the "ten commandments" most of the little stories in the bible are probably misinterpretated, like jesus walking on water, mayb it was iced over water interpretated it wrong. n adam and eve? the first story in the bible..has already been proven impossible cuz of a thing called evolution. and look at the vatican, those people are rich, freekin rich, a good BUSINESS. religion is a business all and all. dont get me wrong the churches do great things to help out communitys, but is god going to smite be if i dont attend church, doubt it. also, u look back on the egyptians, romans, aztec, n c how strongly they believed in their religion, and now we think it was all a load of crap, but i bet 2thousand years from now people will b saying the same thing about us. i could go on forever but unfortunetly yahoo only lets u write a lil

You're standing outside the Door to the truth about all this religion stuff, so of course it would look foolish to you. But if you ever go through the Door into the Spirit, you'll feel differently about it all.

If you eliminate every book of scripture from the analysis, you could still conclude that the circumstantial evidence points to a supreme power being responsible for our existence.
The Big Bang and Evolution would simply be the tools for creation. The major conflicts arise from organizations insisting on their own ethnocentric doctrines being the only source of the truth. When the science conflicts with the scripture, they conclude the science must be wrong. Many scientists including Stephen Hawking believe in God. They just do not believe that the truth is found in scripture. You may want to research Deism. You will find that there are many people who believe as you do.

First off, Evolution is a theory, just like creation is a theory. Personally I think everything was created and that we have evolved from the original creations (I see evolution, but I don't believe in Big Bang). As for Jesus walking on water, I seriously doubt that it was iced over as it was storming and the disciples were in a boat on the water. They would not try to navigate ice, I am pretty sure of that. The bible is morals and history all combined into one book. The bible was written by men inspired by God.

I'm not much on organized religion, but I do believe in a force for good/creation vs. a force for evil/destruction. I believe that holy books are written to inspire and teach their followers (and I've read/studied most of them). I also believe that at the core, the holy books come down to: be nice to each other, take care of each other (including children and old people).
I do believe that some folks have a tendency to decide that their religion gives them a right to force other people into beliefs or behaviors on threat of pain/imprisonment/death. I know that some folks can use their holy books to justify the most vile of behaviors (genocide, rape, slavery, infanticide, war, etc.).
However, since I believe the creator is infinite and I am finite, I can't speak as to what is the "only way to God/Allah/Jehovah/etc." So, all I can do is treat each person as well as possible.

I COMPLETELY agree with you. Don't get me wrong...I don't think that the people that go to church are crazy or anything (at least not all of them), but I believe in more of a physical force. I find I have a hard time believing in a "spiritual entity". I personally believe that there is a consipracy involving the bible and the church. What the conspiracy is? I don't know, but I would rather believe in aliens than a "spirit". Plus, if the bible is true, you will find that a lot of the descriptions of the "coming of Christ" in Revelations sounds like space ships and alien beings, not necessarily little green men, but a physical being much more powerful than us. What do you think??

I agree with you.. I believe in God but i am not a churchgoer. If there are so may religions and they all believe in different things, someone has to be wrong, but yet they all insist that they are right. I agree with you on the bible also, its a BOOK that someone wrote. And i think churches are and should be treated as a business. It is a occupation that is chosen as a way of living.

Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
perished Gen 6:13, Gen 6:17, Gen 7:21, Matt 24:39, Luke 17:27

But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

I agree. I think Jesus was a great man with phenomenal teachings but I hate the religion made in his name. And the "Church"ianity people can't understand the distinction. They will scream at me about "believing" in Jesus--of course I believe in him, and also in Buddha and many other great people throughout history. I can love Jesus and many other people and respect and follow their teachings without the need for any organized religion to take my money and TELL me what to do.
My favorite set of "rules to live by" aren't even from a religion. They are from my Reiki training.
Just for today, do not anger. Just for today, do not worry. Honor your parents, teachers and elders. Earn your living honestly. Show gratitude for everything.
I'm not real fond of the 3d one--just because someone's older than me doesn't make them better--but the rest of them are good.
You do realize that just by posting a question like this you are inciting the bible-thumpers to come and attack. It's their nature to attack and to see satan everywhere. What does that tell you about them?

it form of feels to me that the God a individual believes in says plenty extra on the subject of the guy than it does approximately God. some people seem to have self assurance in a cranky, vengeful, petulant God. Others have self assurance in a super parent in the Sky God. some deny that there is any God in any respect. some say God is Love. No, i do no longer think of believing in a God calls for that or no longer this is a sturdy God, notwithstanding many people insist that each and each physique which is sturdy is God, and that each and each physique which is evil is a devil or a devil. i think of if one specifies that the God is a writer, then sure, it follows that each thing may be the introduction of the writer. i like dreaming's answer. i think of of "God" as "That this is." i'm purely a tiny drop in the huge Ocean. i do no longer declare to be responsive to the form of the coastline :-))
