Ok, I have a friend who is falling in Love with me and she doesnt know I know. Shes planning on telling me ASAP (most likely tonight). I kind of like her back, but feel that before we start a relationship or anything I need to know her a little bit better. How can I say this without hurting her feelings?

Lots of great answers so far, but for those of u saying about asking her questions when were out tonight doesnt quite work since its an 1hr and 1/2 youth group. :-\

That was a good answer Bethany but if you don't want to do that then just say this:
We don't know each other that well and I don't want to rush anything. Don't get me wrong, I do like you but I think that we should get to know each other a little better before we take this any further because I don't want anyone to get hurt and I don't want to ruin our friendship.
Then plan a fun "date" like bowling or a picnic so that you guys can get to know each other better.

Before she spill anything out--tell her how glad you are that the two of you are getting to know each other and cool way--without any pressure or labels. Tell her that is a quality your relationship has that makes you like her even more. Gives her a way of knowing you are interested without her blowing it all up with labels and pressure. If she proclaims her love anyway maybe she is not mature enough to now the true beauty's of love and patience.

Ask to play 20 ?'s...fun game, and you can know more about her, if after that you still don't feel comfortable, just tell her that you would like to find out more about her and become better friends before you start a relationship, but make sure she knows you like her too

You should ask her more questions. Do what you normally do out on a day with her and then start asking questions gradually. But don't delay it too long otherwise she'll get bored of you and think your not interested and then find another guy.

Well if you want to know more about her before you start a relationship ask her things about herself that interest you but take her as she is. everything else will take care of itself.

Try asking things about her and if she doesn't reply she has something to hide and tell her you don't like surprises in that manner
