You move the 9 to the right side, so that you have all the (x's) on one side.

x - 3x = -9 + 27

So just fix it up so that it looks easier.

x - 3x = -2x

and -9 +27 = 18

It is the same as 27 -9.

So the equation is simplifies as:

-2x = 18

Now divide both sides by -2 so that you get the value of x:

x = -9

That 's because 18 / -2 = -9

Now for the 2nd equation:

55 - 3x - 2x = 10

Move the (x's) to one side and the numbers to the other:

55 - 10 = 3x + 2x

Do the calculating:

45 = 5x

Divide both sides by 5:

x = 9

The Last equation:

61 = 6 -8x -3x

Move the (x's) to one side and the numbers to one side:

61 -6 = -8x -3x

Calculate:

55 = -11x

Divide both sides by -11:

x = 55 / -11

x = -5

Hope that helped!

Instead of just giving you the answers, it would be best for you to know how to figure it out yourself. (Btw, I hope you're not doing this to cheat on something!)

For all of your equations listed, there are 3 steps:

1) Simplify all the x's. So x-3x+9 becomes -2x+9. And so on.

2) Remove the constant (otherwise know as the friend who keeps trying to hang around; the goal in all of these equations is to have x by his lonesome). So, in your first equation, to remove the constant from the left side, you need to subtract by 9; because the two sides have to remain equal, you need to subtract 9 from the other side, too.

3) Remove the coefficient (the co-dependent guy glued to the variable, x.) You need to divide each side by the coefficient. So, for your first equation, which has become -2x=18, divide each side by -2. You will then have the value of x.

There you go! Follow those steps and you can do any similar equation.

1)

x-3x+9 = 27
-2x+9 = 27
-9 = -9

-2x = 18
-2x = -2x
x = -9
I hope i did it right :P, i'm not good in math though, so i am not really sure if it's correct!

x=-9
x=9
x=-5.

You know, thought that these are very simple algebra. I would kindly suggest that you need help homeschooling for math if you can't do these, unless the homeschool child is quite young.

Hope this helps.

are you missing some exponents? if not

1. -2x = 18
x = -9

2. -5x = - 45
x=9

3. 55 = -11x
x = -5
