Going into the ordained ministry doesn't have anything to do with age. It is a bad idea no matter how old you are.

First, what do you mean by "ordained"? Many groups say that you can't preach without their permission. Who gave them the authority? If you're preaching the Bible, you already have the authority to do such (Mark 16:15-16).

As far as experience, I say find a good preaching school which will teach you the Bible and nothing else. Try the link below.

Unless you are going to make up yet another Christian sect to add to the 2500+ already out there, you need to go to a seminary/college so you would need to at least graduate from high school, of course some actual time in the real world would help.

The question is, "Why would you want to live off the delusions and fears of other people, why not do something that actually helps them instead?"

If it weren't for the counseling aspect of ministry, then teenagers would be encouraged to seek ordination early. Counseling, however, will require more education and personal maturity.

Many denominations require their ministers to possess a master's degree in theology or ministry prior to ordination. This helps to prevent heresy too.

Well, when I contacted the Jesuits, they said that if you are over the age of 40, they require a 'dispensation' - that is, a whole bunch of cash - in order for me to pursue the priesthood.

But that said, there is really no 'right age'. If you feel that you are called in this way, then it is something you should pursue.

footnote - plus the Jesuits weren't thrilled with my wife and two kids, and I wasn't thrilled with their whole chastity thing.
