Israel accidentally blows up a UN observation position that has been in the open since before the current fighting started, and wants the world to believe that it was an accident. Also, Israel has been blowing up cars and buildings, bridges, highways, airports all over Lebanon indiscriminately killing innocent people but this bombing was an accident.
Israel has not committed any accidents when it comes to killing for quite awhile. Collateral damage is a acceptable occurace when it comes to targeted assassinations, but collateral damage is not an accident.
Israel has lost it's nerve. It is striking in every direction. It sees monsters under every bush, (no bun intended). And maybe that is what happened with the UN observation post. The Israel tank commander or aircraft pilot firing or dropping weapons just punched in the wrong coordinates.
But, this is not an accident. This is fatal carelessness at best.

"Of course there is also the question is to why the people who are supposed to be keeping Hezbollah from firing rockets at Israel allowed Hezbollah to place military assets so close to their location." By Mike
UNIFIL are on a monitering role, and are not there to use force in order to achieve anything. Simply moniter.
Those 4 UN officials were unarmed.
What was it, like 17 bombs on and around their base that very same day.
The IDF ignored their pleas to stop bombing them.
Somehow, this doesnt look like an accident. And no doubt, the Israelis will come out of their "investigation" with a "yep, it wasnt us, but a land-mine exploded...now if you dont mind, we have some more innocent children to slaughter".
ps: and those of you calling for the death of more UN personel disgust me. Sadistic, sick pyschopaths.

It's unforunate that this happened. I don't much care for the UN but as the U.S. is a member we have been in that role ourselves. I hope that these "observers" were in fact just observing. I don't know all the details of the incident so I can't judge. All I'll say is knowing the history of the conflict in the middleeast and based on it's past record, I don't believe Israels actions were intentional. Accidents DO happen in war. Israel has not made a habit of killing innocent people, despite what pro-islamic propagandists say.

Hopefully Israel would have killed, not only 4, but rateher 8 U.N. representatives. Because the U.N. sucks!
This is the situation, the U.N. is meant for, and look what they do: Nothing. Because they can't do anything.
Israel could continue the way, they're doing, even if their troops would stick Kofi Anan's Head on a speartip on CNN.

My comment: Typical of a race (Jews) who believes their own agenda is way above the blood of another.
This comes as no surprise but is pointed out even more because of the crisis in Lebanon
UN troops have been killed and shot at in Lebanon by Israeli troops since 2001, after they (Jews) withdrew from southern Lebanon.
They call you anti-Semitic for expressing you're observation.
They call you a racist for questioning their motives.
They dangle the holocaust in front of you if you question their history.
Typical!!!

Who cares about the useless UN? They have NO reason to be there, they serve NO purpose. If they don't want to get killed, they should LEAVE.

Those people should have been evacuated the moment the shooting started.
What were they thinking?
Of course there is also the question is to why the people who are supposed to be keeping Hezbollah from firing rockets at Israel allowed Hezbollah to place military assets so close to their location. (Another: 'What were they thinking?' question.)
