They usually do things together and hang out with their family and kids. Some stray and have affairs too.

The couples that hang in there face the reality of long separations. Many don't make it, most do. One thing is the most stable wives are the ones have a network of of friends that are in the same boat. They are always there for one another .

It is harder for National Guard wives whose husbands have been deployed overseas. Since many don't know or have ever heard of one another. All they have is a husband gone, lower income and worry over their husbands well being. Some can't handle it and resort to affairs, drinking or other male companionship because they are lonely. It would be great if the Reserve wives could form bonds with the other wives. No one else understands until they've been there.
Enjoy your guy when he is with you, be glad he can come back and is in one piece. Good luck, annie Bee

I am in the same boat, my new husband lives in TX while I live in Ohio. I see him for a weekend about once every 1-3 months. The way we do it is talk throughout the day, i.e. IM, Text Messaging, Email and Cell Phones. Web cams in the evening. We also mail each other little gifts when we can. Be open with each other and you have to trust. If you don't trust each other the relationship will not work. You just have to stay connected anyway you can, even if there is distance. Good luck!

Some wives do cheat , but there are thsoe of us that didn't cheat. My husband spent 1 year in Korea and I never even thought about cheating on him. i filled the time working and being with my friends. The phone bill was terrible but it was worth every cent. I also tried to fill up my time with baking cookies for him and his barracks and finding other stuff to send him. You have to keep busy and realize that a night of sex isn't worth ruining your marriage.

It irony of it that he couldn't go 4 months without cheating on me once he was out of the army and it was my turn to go in. I know more military men that cheat then women.

I grew up on military bases. Yes the military wives do cheat, not all, but alot. We had several neighbor's whose moms wouldn't let their kids in the house all day so that they could spend time with their boyfriends. But alot of men in the military cheat too while away.

Not all of us cheat on are husbands, my husband and I have a great relationship thank you, community support is how most military wives get though a deployment. We have lots of resorces available to our families plus if you live on post alot of your neighbors are going though the same hardships you are.

It's not easy, but you just do it. If you love each other and you trust each other ......you make the best of the time you have together when he is home.

My guy is in Iraq and I don't see him for 3-6 mos at a time.
It's hard, but we keep in contact by mail and internet and we have the occasional "phonesex" call to keep each other happy.

It all works out in the end. Just find things to keep you busy and your mind off the other stuff like cheating. I habg out with girlfriends and I started painting and doing things around my house. When he comes home he is wowed by all I did and very happy to see me!!!!!!!

If h is not out of state......take a road trip and surprise him!

Sweety, I can tell you from experience, I used to see a lot of those women going home with other men, while those husbands and boyfriends were out in the field, training, or overseas.

You just have to find something to do in the meantime to occupy yourself like a good hobby if you don't work like volunteer part time or work part time then take a cooking class or some class that you think you need. Make yourself busy so that you don't have time but to wake up and go to bed that way you don't worry about how long he is gone.

I hope I'm wrong, but it sounds to me like you're asking for permission to cheat on him.

If that's what you want to do, do it. But at least have the decency to not blame him for you wanting to be a slu*.

The decisions and actions are your responsibility alone. Don't blame BF or the company.

it is very very hard but as long as the love is still there, the wife can be very supportive since they are out there making the money to support the family. It doesn't mean that we dont suffer... is just showing support for what they have decided to do for their country but specially their family.
