Why don't they still do to nobelievers, what they did before? Why do they not: murder, burn, stone, drown, etc nonchristians? What stopped them? Why was it ok at the time, and do you think it should be done today? It was effective. Was that god/jesus will?

No. No. This was in the 1600's still being done. Long after the bible.

Because as humanity progresses in its thinking, religion HAS to change, or else be marginalized and forgotten.

This actually shows how false religions are. They claim to be based on absolute truth handed down from God centuries ago... but how absolute can the truth be if there are numerous sects that are all constantly changing their beliefs over and over?

Those who did such were not Christians. It was not acceptable at the time, and it would not be right today. The sword that Christians are called to use is the sword of the spirit, the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17).

Just because somebody did something and claimed to be a Christian is not a sufficient reason to bind that on all Christians. If somebody killed in the name of Darwin, would we be right in condemning all atheists?

Jesus gave us an example to follow in the NT. An adulteress was brought to him by the pharisees. The punishment for this was stoning, but they asked him what to do about it. His reply was, Let he that is without sin cast the first stone. The pharisees could not respond, so they left her there. Jesus turned to her and simply said, "Go and sin no more."

He gave us a new law, one of mercy, not judgment. I just wish more Christians would figure it out.

Hi ManandApe! One thing you need to know is that many people, throughout history have killed and maimed and burned others under the guise of 'religion'. It is easy to use religion to get undereducted people to do your bidding. Hitler did it, Osama Bin-Laden did it, the Spanish Inquisitors did it, they did it in Salem, Massachusetts.

But knowledgable Christians, who follow the beliefs fo Christ do not, nor would ever "murder, burn, stone or drown non-Chritians". If anything we would attempt to 'save' them.

Hope this helps!
Billy!

Some of them want to but don't because of earthly laws.

Just take a look at the new Left Behind video game, you'll see their intentions.

some of them still do these things but in other countries. christianity is a dying religion and they dont want to lose customers because they start to kill non christians. I do think that they do things like this in rural areas where nobody notices as much.......i have a feeling the christian churches try to hush it up if it does happen in this day and age

Because Christians today live under a New Covenant, the New Testament. Christ gave himself to die. And in dying that allowed us to have salvation and that did away with the old law, the Old Testament.

Christianity has be homogenized and fragmented as a religion. Dozens of sects with minute differences keep any unified action from taking place. However, Muslims do torture nonbelievers regularly.

God & the bible have changed over time for the simply reason that both are inventions of the human brain.

That was the Roman Catholic Church, which teaches some doctrines that are not in the Bible. I'm protestant, and my bible (I don't know what those other guys were reading) says "Thou shalt not kill." So we don't. The Catholics might if it were allowed though. They aren't very evangelistic, and try to keep their faith to themselves. They feel it's easier to kill a nonbeleiver than to try and convert them.
