NO,
While I do enjoy spending time answering posts on this forum, I still keep my commitment to spend time with my fellow believers.
It is in Church and in fellowship with my Church family that I continue to grow and learn and walk closer with God.
With this support base, it makes it easier to accept the anger and venum spounted by non believers and yes, even believers who have not yet fully understood all that they will need to.
I heard a quote on the radio a long time ago, wish I knew who to credit it with.
For the unbeliever, this life is as good as it ever gets for you.
For me and my fellow believers, this life is as bad as it ever gets.
So, NO we expect to be persecuted, although in America it is more along the lines of having all references to our beliefs wiped from view. We have no real idea what believers in other countries and cultures go through as far as physical persecution. I do know that they feel led to go and are ready to face this type of persecution for the glory of God.

Times have changed. Western society, if not officially "Christian", embodies many Judeo-Christian concepts. Additionally western society believes in freedom of religion and is fairly tolerant. Therefore there just isn't the type of persecution that existed at the time of Christ.
Unfortunately, Christians typically come to believe that, like Christ, if they are being a good Christian they will be persecuted. And that if they aren't being persecuted they aren't being bold enough in bonking others over the head with their Bible. Essentially, Christians have developed a "persecution complex".
And so, we go around imagining persecution where it doesn't exist. An Assemblies of God person concludes that he/she is a "real Christian" and that those liberal tree-hugger, homosexual-tolerating Prebyterians are persecuting him by supporting abortion rights. The Southern baptist looks around the country and concludes that the world is going to hell in a handbasket, when in fact most people in the U.S. identify with Christianity to one degree or another.
It's silly really. Religious persecution barely exists in the U.S. Let's accept that the playing field has changed and adjust our thoughts and actions accordingly rather than inventing in our minds the conditions that existed 2000 years ago in the middle-east.

Yes, the truth in those passages are very clear on these boards where unbelievers insult us.
Thankfully verse 12 gives us the assurance the trials we face will not last forever. We can bear patiently in love until that time is here.
Lord's blessings to you.

Do I believe it, yes I do. That's God's inspired word. Does it make life difficult for me.. No. I, like anyone else, have trial and tribulations for being a Christian. I lost my husband to Satan and Catholicism because he could not withstand the pressure of the world ridiculing him and such. Life as a Christian was not meant to be easy "narrow is the gate and few there be that enter it"...

Actually it makes it easier. If people persecute me and revile me then I am probably on the right track and serving Christ. LOL I actually don't pay attention to how everyone feels about me. I concentrate on how much I love them and I love Christ.
Peace Be With You,

Sure it makes life difficult. Everyone wants to fit it, be part of a group, and when we have to make decisions which aren't popular because of our beliefs, it can be upsetting. But like the verses say, it's worth it in the end.

I do believe but no longer find it difficult. I am sad but rejoice that GOD has proclaimed to me that I have been chosen to be HIS instrument of love in a sinning world. I love in a way that I never have before. I feel no remorse or guilt for it. It is a pure and simple love and rejection from those who don't believe or see the truth is their loss forevermore........

That is what I call one of the "Nonsense!" Clauses (tm). In other words, the Bible has brainwashing memes installed so that when thinking people laugh at the absurdities of the religious, the religious have these verses to run to so they can say "see, God said they would hate us, boo hoo hoo." It is yet another layer of defense against having to critically think about their religion.

How can that make if difficult for me,
Its great. This verse is explaining that if we are doing right, by god, we will never make the world happy and they will speak lies about us. Which is good, as long as they are lies, people say that christians are crazy and that all they want is money and all these crazy things that they speak of us. But as long as its all lies, God will glorify himself in our lives hearts and souls.!
REJOICE AND BE EXCEEDINGLY GLAD!
