I would explain how important the reservation is, and if you cannot be accomidated, you will go somewhere else. Futhermore it will be VERY unlikely that you will ever enjoy that place again. And you would be happy to tell everyone you know how inconvienced you were. I guess I would be a b-tch. After all what make your reservation less important to the others that you got dropped? I would want to speak to the owner...

Yes they should. They should make reservations for you at another place of equal or greater value and then you still pay the original amount you were suppose too.

You usually have to stress the inconvenience it caused you in order so that they may compensate you in some way. If you act as though it's no big deal, they very likely won't offer you anything in return.
