Because of my college education I am more apt to be in competition for a job against a legal immigrant, Ex-Pats are here working in many fields and are most likely college educated. My son goes to an International School, the school is made up of 50% Ex-Pats from England, France and the like. I have many friends that are Ex-Pats and we have had lengthy discussions about the racism, isolation that they have felt from some Americans. But keep in mind these are LEGAL immigrants. SO the argument that you only dislike illegal immigrants is mute and then there was something said about illegal immigrants causing terrorism. The last time I checked those idiots who flew in to the towers were on a legal VISA. SO what are the arguments now?

First of all the vast majority of people in the states are not against legal immigration.

Yes there will always be some people who just love to hate people that are different from them in any way. These are the people that are racist, nationalist, bigots, homophobes.... the list goes on and on.

As far as the 9/11 terrorists go, yes they entered the states on a legal visa, but if you bothered to check, you will find that 16 of the 19 hijackers overstayed their visas after they had expired and these people were illegal aliens at that point.

Quit trying to justify and marginalize the seriousness of the problem by distorting the facts, it just does not work.

Incoherence is a blessing. Points are moot, not mute. People who come here legally deserve no persecution. Those who come here illegally do. It has nothing to do with terrorism, it has everything to do with abiding by laws set forth by the government. Illegals cause problems like escalating health care costs, because they often use the E.R. as if it were a general practitioner's office. They don't pay taxes. They don't pay into social security. They take advantage of many of the opportunities our country provides without giving back to our economy-the majority of Illegals send money back to their relatives. I don't think that they should be rounded up and sent back. But I definitely think that they should be stopped from entering in the first place. There is a perfectly legal process, that is fairly easy for most people-like your friends-for them to adhere to. Diversity and immigration are what make this country great, we shouldn't stop legal immigration. But, people who break the law trying to get into this country should be held accountable for their actions. Otherwise, what good is law in general?

You may have a college education, but your question doesn't make much sense ... nobody I've ever heard of on this site, unless they're absolute idiots, is against legal immigration ... what the anti illegals are against is, among many other things, the fact that the border is like a sieve ... anyone can cross unhindered ... so how do you know, how do I know, how does anybody know, if terrorists are sneaking in or not? So the ones who committed the 9/11 atrocity were overstayers, in other words in this country illegally, but do you think that just because these particular people apparently didn't sneak across our southern border, others won't? On what do you base that assumption? Millions of people of whom we know absolutely nothing are pouring across our borders, and the lame arguments are either "they come here to better themselves", or like you, that there are no terrorists among them ... Do we know? Does anybody really KNOW who is here and for what purpose??

I'm sorry but that doesn't "mute" any arguments (correct word is moot). Legal immigrants like your friends are very unlikely to commit violent crimes or be engaged in welfare fraud. They pay taxes on what they earn and so don't treat the US as a welfare state.

I have been saying that also....There are known terrorist operating freely and openly in this country, planning its destruction....

However, I never hear the anti illegals on a witch hunt for those people.....And yes, you are right, the nineteen terrorist who flew planes and attacked our country were here on visa's, our own govt. allow them entry.....Interesting to note, only one of the would be terrorists, was intercepted, by a INS agent, which happen to be of Mexican decent.....

Life is funny that way, no?

You are incorrectly using the term Ex-Pats. Foreignors in our country are Foreign Nationals.

Maybe I'm wrong. I do taxes and we refer to Ex-Pats as American's living in other countries and Foreign Nationals as Foreignors living in the US.

They would be Ex-Pats to their country, but in ours they are Foreign Nationals.
