I know that this sounds mean, but I personally wouldn't keep it and care for it, unless you plan on doing it forever. If you have other pets, the new stray could bring in endless amounts of parasites to your home that could put your other pets and your family in danger. If you plan on keeping it, take it to a vet and get it checked out before letting it enter your home. If you can not care for it, then try and find a shelter that does not believe in putting down animals. There are many more out there then you think. They will keep the animal as long as it takes to find it a home. Even after you take it to a shelter, you can still help by asking people if they would like a puppy, and refer them back to that shelter and put up postings, and listings in the local paper to help find it a home. If you kept every poor puppy that you found, you will be broke!!!
If you decide to take it to the shelter, that does not mean that you are a mean un caring person, it means that you are being responsible. Taking in a animal that you can not afford, or that would be hazardous to your and your other pets is not at all responsible, think about that and I am sure that you will come up with the right answer.

It is not important what anyone else would do.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
It is probably hungry and thirsty give it water and food and think about all the questions you need to answer.
DO NOT HAVE OTHER PEOPLE ANSWER THEM!
They do not know your situation!
Does it have ID?
Can you find it's home?
CAN you keep a dog if this one needs a home?
Can you afford a dog, FOOD and VET BILLS?
If you cannot keep it for any reason then try to find it a home and if you cannot then you will need to give it to a shelter or some one who can keep it safe for a while and then give it to a good home.
Could you take it to a vet and have it get shots, dewormed if needed? IF your are going to keep it you NEED to do this anyway, IF you are not it is a good idea at least you can tell people it had its shots and whatever treatment it had you will be giving the puppy a good start!
If you cannot do this I strongly suggest that you give it to a shelter they will do it for the puppy. NO animal should be given to anyone without seeing a vet and having vet care done to it. This is just being responsible for an animals health.

I would take her home to live with me and my doggie Little Bit. I would also take her to the vet and have her checked out and get her started on her puppy shots. Then I would choose an excellent puppy food for her and I also would buy her some toys; some soft ones with squeakers as well as something hard that she could chew on. I would buy her a ball and teach her to fetch. Then she could play fetch with me and Little Bit. I would let her stay with Little Bit and I would love her very much and I would never abandon her just like I would never abandon Little Bit. I would also let her live with Little Bit and me in the house year around. However, she would be free to come and go in and out of the yard if she wanted to as would Little Bit. Both of them would sleep with me as Little Bit does now.

Since you do not know the pups circumstances, I'd try to find it's owner by putting up flyer's and calling local vets, pounds, rescues, and humane societies and if no one claimed the pup after a few weeks (If it was abandoned no one would claim it), make the decision if I was financially, emotionally, and had plenty of free time to provide a proper home for the dog, if not, I'd take the pup to the nearest rescue and ask for their assistance in placing the pup.

Keep it ofcourse, that actualy happened to a friend of mine, we saw a box of weiner dog puppies(5) and she kept them all, her mom wasnt too happy when she found out 3 months later, but they were very well behaved and quiet dogs, so she let it fly. they are all about a year and a half old now and doing well, if that ever happens to me, with any animal, i will keep it. they need us and depend on us for their safety and care, so i would never completly abandon an animal.

Take it home, get it checked out to make sure it was OK etc, and then since I can't keep a dog where I am right now I would try to get it placed into a good home. Failing that I guess I would have to take it to a shelter, but I'd try to avoid that. In the meantime I'd make sure he was fed, cared for, etc.

I belong to a local group called Second Chance Animal Rescue, so I would introduce the pup to some foster person or foster it myself.

I would try to find the owner first & see if they where purposely trying to get rid of it. If no one claimed it, more than likely keep it, after all I have three dogs & I am an animal lover.

I would keep it and hide it from my parents, because I already have too many pets. But if I couldn't keep it, I would give it to a good friend or good family. I'm a sucker for animals and love all! If any get hurt, you get hurt. I lOVE animals.
