They hate homosexuals. They instill tremendous guilt in their members. They won't let women become priests...etc.

Catholics have the same God as everyone else, it's just that many of their practices are not biblical.

+ Homosexuals +

The Catholic Church believes there is nothing sinful about being homosexual. But homosexuals like all unmarried people are called to celibacy.

The Church specifically says, "They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided."

+ Guilt +

As a religion Catholicism tends to emphasize personal responsibility and a strong sense of right and wrong. Guilt is supposed to happen when someone knowingly does wrong (sins).

The guilt a Catholic feels is really no different that that of a Protestant, an Atheist, a pagan or other believer. The term "Catholic Guilt" is a stereotype.

+ Women as Priests +

The Catechism of the Catholic Church states:

The Lord Jesus chose men to form the college of the twelve apostles, and the apostles did the same when they chose collaborators to succeed them in their ministry.

The Church recognizes herself to be bound by this choice made by the Lord himself. For this reason the ordination of women is not possible.

+ Vengeful God? +

Catholic believe that God is a loving, forgiving parent not someone waiting to take vengeance.

With love in Christ.

Homosexuality is hated worldwide by ALL religions, and it's no GOD that is vengeful. It's the individuals claiming to be doing GOD'S work. It is people who are prejudice, not GOD. Guilt is instilled by many religions to control the attitudes and behavior of the masses. Without the FEAR of GOD'S wrath, many MORE people would kill, steal, molest and commit crimes of greed because they would feel there would be no consequences. As for women being priest...I think many religions don't let women become part of the higher ranks in the church because it allows men to feel they are in control. The bible reiterates many times over that men are superior to women and that women should obey the men's rules and only play a servitude position in the home, although there are many areas of the bible that tell of women who held high positions in the christian churchs throughout history. THE ANSWER HERE AGAIN IS THAT IT IS NOT GOD WHO IS VENGEFUL, IT IS THE HUMAN FACTOR INVOLVED IN RUNNING THE RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATIONS. DO YOU REALLY THINK GOD TOLD BIN LADEN TO KILL THOUSANDS OF AMERICANS BECAUSE THEY WERE CHILDREN OF SATAN??? MAN HAS BEEN GIVEN THE GIFT OF FREE WILL AND CHOOSES TO ABUSE IT, I'M SURE MUCH TO THE DISPLEASURE OF GOD!!!

I am agnostic but i felt the need to correct something here. In the catholic religion (or any religion for that matter) it is NOT God who does all these things... it's the people who believe in him that take some words in a book and "interpret" those words into meaning what they want so that they can use God as an excuse to be as hateful as they want. Since no one that i have ever heard of has ever truly (provable) sat down and had a one on one conversation with God - i'd venture to say that no one truly knows what he believes or wants. They simply can interpret what a book (written by man) seems to say. And anyone can interpret any book to mean whatever they want it to mean. It's not God to blame it is the people who claim to be doing his work. IF there is a heaven and a God then i wonder how they will feel if/when they meet God and he tells them how wrong they were to be so hateful?

There isn't enough space here to properly address all this misinformation & misunderstanding; and frankly, I'm not convinced you even want to hear actual answers. I suspect you're just venting. Or, looking for a 'Huzzah!' from your fellow anti-Catholics.

Anyway, if you really do care about the truth of the accusations you make, I suggest you look up some actual Catholic apologetics sites, & make a real effort to understand what is behind Catholic teachings. Or, feel free to contact me directly; I'm no apologist, but I can help you find background on the issues.

I'd tell you that I'll pray for you, but somehow I suspect that you'd find that thought offensive, yes? :)

The Catholic Church does not preach hatred towards ANYBODY in God's name. Homosexuals, drug abusers, prostitutes, blacks, whites, pornographers, child molesters, murderers, rapists, anybody!

The point of God's message is that SIN is bad, but that God loves us ANYWAY, and has provided a way out of all of the things that bind us in this life. "Hate the sin, but love the sinner," is a good quote to remember.

It is possible to disapprove of someones actions, without hating the person who did the action. Perhaps you do not understand this?

Guilt is a natural feeling most humans get, when they violate their own moral code. It is as unnatural to NOT feel guilty for killing someone, for example, as it is unnatural to FEEL guilty for no reason at all (like, getting a drink of water). If a person feels tremendous guilt, then most likely they have run into a very large, "inconvenient" moral code.

I don't understand the ban on women as priests, but then, I'm more protestant in my Theology, and have a different idea of priesthood.

There's only one God, and his rules are the same for everyone. It doesn't matter whether you're Catholic or not.

Certain types of behavior are abominable to God, but forgiveness is readily and freely available to all those who express sorrow for their sins and repent.

God is also very particular about details, so he has specific preferences when it comes to things like the gender of his priests.

The all male priesthood in the old testament prefigured Jesus Christ, who is now our heavenly high priest and advocate with his father.

The all male priesthood in the Catholic church reflects the actual gender of Jesus Christ, who is the central figure at every Catholic mass.

There's actually good, valid, and Godly reasons for every practice and belief of the church.

Maybe you should spend some time reading the catechism. Here's the link:

We do not hate anyone. We do not approve of the practice. Guilt can be useful and small amounts are necessary. How did you and I learn not to steal? And I for one as a woman and a Catholic do NOT want a female priest. If Christ had wanted them then one or more of the apostles would have been female.
Peace Be With You,

STRANGE??

Article # 841 of the New Roman Catholic Catechism says that Catholics Worship The Same God as The Muslims.

In the past, the kings of europe interpretted the bible to their liking and basically re-wrote it to fit what they wanted at that time. Then, most people could not read or write so they could only hear what the priest was telling them. This was a doward spiral. However, I know that people will come around soon!

God is fair and just. If the Bible says it's wrong, then it is. I'm not Catholic, but some problem is the priest says the prayers ( I think), where as Protestants do their own praying, and are forgiven.
