there is nothing wrong with your dog, everything breaks wind. how would you feel if you couldn't fart? pretty bad right? It's natural. How it smells and how often probably has to do with what you are feeding your dog, and how it is eating it. I have a puppy St. Bernard that has horrible gas. I was told by my vet that it is from a mixture of him eating table food, and from gulping his food with lots of air. He can finish a whole bowl of water and 5 cups of dog food, with one can of wet in under a minute. I don't think he chews. When he swallows that much air it causes gas, just like people that don't chew. If that is your dog's problem they have food dishes now that I have found that have a circle ring in the middle so that your dog has to slow down and eat around it, this causes less air intake. It really does work too!!

Is it the DOG suffering? or is someone blaming it on the dog?
Seriously...Check the label on the dog food. CORN? doesn't digest fully and creates gasses) SOY? (beans) BEET PULP? (interferes with complete digestion)
Those are the major culprits...If any of these are on the label, a change in kibble will help.

The food you are giving your dog may be upsetting his tummy. Does he eat canned food? Try switching to dry food for mature dogs, or a different brand... Iams is very good.
If that doesn't work try air freshener.

Your 10-yr old doggie isn't suffering at all. He's just at the age where flatulence is more frequent.
Could he have eaten something that disagreed with his digestive system?

Maybe the dog's just old. Try changing his diet.
And get a lot of air fresheners.
