Safe sex means using a condom to prevent sexually transmitted infections, AIDS, and pregnancy, and also taking birth control. You can go to your local health department or planned parenthood to get both of those at little or no cost. There is also the "morning after pill" which is something that planned parenthood offers. This is the backup plan. If the condom breaks or you forget to take your pill, the morning after pill can be taken up to 72 hours after sex to prevent pregnancy. But the loger you wait the less effect it has. Check with you local health department on all the information you need to learn all about safe sex. Its in the phone book.

the safest method - abstinance
other than that you have plenty of options: the pill, the Ring (my personal favorite), the depo shot, condoms, patches, implants...
Your options are huge:
drawbacks - only condoms have some protection against STDs, but many guys don't want to wear condoms... this also means you both need to get tested - before your relationship!
If you get on the pill, get on it abotu a week or two before you start having sex, because it takes a while to get in your system to start doing any good - but once you do, and you take it like you're supposed to - it's got a 95%+ chance of keeping you from having a baby.
Here's more infomation - make sure you do your research before you get started. Sex comes with a lot more than the possibility of having kids! http://www.plannedparenthood.org/pp2/portal/medicalinfo/birthcontrol/

honey if you don't know what safe sex is, you SHOULD NOT be having sex period. The only 100% safe method is abstinence. You shouldn't do anything that you don't want to do.
You need to talk to an adult that you are comfortable with about this. Sex is not something to be taken lightly. There is more at risk than just you having a baby. Sweetie there are lots of diseases you can get from sex.

Safe sex is practicing birth control to avoid pregnancy AND disease.
Use condoms for disease prevention (although not 100%) and use another reliable form of birth control to prevent pregnancy.
OR -- don't have sex.
There is no pill you can take right before having sex to prevent a baby. You must be on birth control pills for one full cycle to be safe and you must take them correctly.
OR -- don't have sex.
It sounds like it is not a good time for you as there is way too much that you don't know.

"Safe sex" is engaging in any sexual act (genital contact) while wearing protection. For oral sex, an "oral dam" is safest, and for intercourse, a condom. It's very important that you NOT think that a pill will protect you from AIDS or HIV infection. NEVER EVER have sex with a partner without a condom...even if you're pretty sure he's never cheated on you with someone else. Stop the spread of AIDS

Safe sex mostly refers to protecting yourself from STDs (sexually transmitted diseases), one can also add protection from conceiving into it.
Taking a pill might protect you from getting pregnant BUT IT WILL DEFINITELY NOT PROTECT YOU FROM STDs.
The most logical thing is for both partners to practice safe sex, not just the girl alone. In addition to the pill, try condoms and if possible abstinence.

Safe sex refers to taking precautions against pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases and any other undesirable consequences of sex. Most often it means wearing a condom EVERY TIME! Still, that is not all there is to it. You might want to look up your local branch of Planned Parenthood. They can give you full information.
