Get checked by an ENT specialist. I had huge tonsils and a throat that seemed to collapse in on itself. My sleep doctor told me I was wasting my time getting surgery, but the ENT doctor told me the sleep dr. didn't know what he was talking about. I was a prime candidate for the surgery, and it worked like a charm.
btw I'm 58 years old and had the surgery three years ago.
granted it doesn't work for everyone, but it's worth getting evaluated to see if it might work for you. They took out my tonsils, adenoids, uvula, and did some other stuff.

Everyone in my family is the same way it is really bad!! One of my brothers had to use a CPAP machine for a while because of his sleep apnea, but we finally found the answer to stop snoring and it is awesome!! It is a custom fitted mouthpiece that we purchased on http://www.prosnore.com it really works good and my brother doesn't even have to use his CPAP anymore!! IT IS AWESOME! GIVE IT A TRY!! that's a doctor's call. you probably know that "apnea" means not breathing. that's what the cpap is for. my mom uses one. lack of air does nasty things to your brain. check with your MD about ways that you can relax. the fact that you had it on for a while with help of ambien still meant you were getting something.

UVPPP surgery is the best solutiuon. I had i done and sleep apnea is gone. CPAP was too much of a nuisance for me. One week of pain has cured me.

the newer ones are soooooo much smaller than the older one he had. you just call the company and they'll mail a different one to you
