Gifts are always nice. They show the giver was thinking of you at trying to make you happy. A batch of my favorite cookies? It would certainly leave me with some very positive thoughts about her.

yea stupid things matter alot to a guy even if we dont show it. my g.f took a bigg bag a chips and went through it to get the folded over chips out cuz i like them. i nver said it but i liked it alot

It shouldn't make him love her more at all.
What's his love language (Acts of service, touch, gifts, words of affirmation, time)? Use that to your advantage...maybe gifts just isn't his thing. He'll appreciate it, but he won't be wowed to no end.
Find that out, and you have your key to showing you affection.
