Like in the rest of the Netherlands, the age of consent in Amsterdam is 16 years.

This means that anybody of 16 or over could be prosecuted for having a sexual relation with somebody who is under 16.

That is in theory at least, since in practice, this law is hardly enforced (unless of course an abuse claim is made by the under-16 or his/her parents).

Sexual relations between two people under 16 are of course acceptable and are not penalized unless in case of rape.

it was lowered to 12. source: Judith levines book: harmful to minors: the perils of protecting children from sex. as long as there is consent and the parents (and child) dont feel that the child is being coerced or exploited . but keep in mind, that there is alot of propaganda and misinformation mainly from western sources and pressure from the United states (always meddling) where information will still infer the higher age. keep in mind that "progressive sex education" is taught in many elementary schools especially in Europe where abstinance is hardly mentioned if not at all. keep in mind that youth under 16 are engaging in sexual activities.
