Things are not equal and that's not right. Female soldiers don't have to lift the same size load a man does. They have to have a porta potty when a man has to dig a hole. As soon as they get pregnant, they're behind a desk while often a male soldier is still on the job. (Yes, I know she needs to take it easy so she can carry full term.) They don't have the same weight or PT standards. Sure their bodies are different, but it still needs to be equal. When a female soldier has a baby, she's given convalescent leave which is not charged leave. However, if a male soldier wants to be home with his new baby, he's charged for his leave. Sure the female HAD the baby, but that doesn't mean the male doesn't want to be there for his new baby. Sometimes, it's the most they see their kids. Women can scream sexual harassment at the drop of the hat. For the most part, a male wouldn't dare want to do that. And there are women who harass men and women who use their rank. All I'm saying is if females are going to be in the military, make it fair and equal. Different body types or not, make it the same for everyone. Fair and equal.
I should note, there are some very good female military personnel out there. Not all want special favors. Some work very hard at their jobs. I have nothing but respect for them.

I work in an special field that you have to make it into from the regular Navy. It allows men and women to join. They work side by side with all branches of the military, and other countries as well. The standards are the pretty much the same for entry no matter the gender. Now I have seen some women slide by because of their looks, just as I have seen some men slide by because of their personalities/charisma. The true test is whether they are able to work side by side, doing the same job, everyone pulling their fair share. The results: mixed. I have seen some women who were the anchor of the team, leading from behind, never pulling their load. I have seen some women that took charge of their jobs, never trailed in PT (although I haven't see any women lead in PT either), and did a good job. There were no special amenities for women, and they knew that coming in. They pissed and crapped in the jungle just like the rest of us. I don't mind women in as long as they are treated equal and held to the same standard - and don't mind that it is a male dominated work place, and definately has a lot of male humor.
My final take on this is - if we allow women into combat ranks, then we should open selective service registration to women as well. If women want equal rights, then give them EQUAL rights.

I work with women that either have served or will be serving in combat situations. All of them realize the dangers and many of them are mothers. Most of them think society has to accept that the traditional "stay at home and bake cookies mom" is not what they are nor do they want to be June Cleaver.
For more information log into Military.com, or Goarmy.com. You can read what the women in war believe...it's very eye opening!

As far as influencing society, see #3 below...
1. Bad - medical issues of females w/o sanitary facilities for extended periods (2 - 3 weeks or longer)
2. Bad - Very distracting when good looking ones are around.
3. Good - pacifies the politically correct society.
4. Good - More fodder available for offensives

I work with many female soldiers. I find that they are some of the more determined of the soldiers in my unit. Though there will always be the one or two who will find that unfair advantage, for the most part they're just was worthwhile as anyone else.
If they're willing to put it all on the line for their country, I say let's let them. I'd be proud to have some of these females next to me in battle.

I feel that if girls want to play war then they should be put on the front lines so that they can have as much a chance of getting blown away as the male counterparts. They shoud not get ANY PREFERENCIAL treatment at all.
Blood gare and bulits flying around.
Dirt and grime in the food, tepid water from hot bags and MREs that were hauled fro hundres of miles .
nowhere to piss or take a dump except the local bushes. and comunal latreans.
The girls want to see what war is like show them the real hell that it is.

Females have been in the military for so long now that it really isnt anything anymore...
I will agree with the guy in the first post though. SOME females do know the tricks to get the upper hand in certain situations.

As support staff away from combat, okay. Otherwise, not unless a nation is at total war.
