I was at SVA in NYC for one year and I'm transfering now to Marist College. I'm looking at this school as a temp because the school I really want to go to denied me. I was wondering if schools hate to see transfer students, transfer a lot? Does it decrease your chances? Should I just suck it up and stay where I' am?

Having transferred schools more than once I can tell you that transferring now is the best time to do it! After two years or more you start to lose too many credits as you can only ever transfer 60 credits from one university to another. Transferring at the end of your first year actually gives you an advantage in your application (assuming you have Cs or better) because it shows you can handle the academic work load. Also they have a special category and que for transfer students so it is actually easier to transfer than to be a new freshman particularly at larger universities. So to answer your question, schools don't hate transfer students, they like them because they're more likely to succeed and graduate than new students. Schools accept transfer students every year and it will actually increase your chances. If you know where you want to be, get there now before you've attained 60 credits or more - you don't want to have to take courses over again.

it all depends on how offten you transfer. At most colleges you lose credits every time that you transfer. I would suggest staying where you are if at all possible. Does the school have all that you need for what you want.
