To INCREASE cholestral, stick to cooking with olive oil.

eat more vegetable oils like olive oil, sunflower oil.
eat more marine oils like omega - 3 and - 6 capsules
eat more fish
eat more vegetables - all kinds
eat more fiber like whole grain bread, vegetables and fruit.

eat less animal fat like butter and margarine
eat less meat - allways cut away fat
eat less white bread, pasta and white rice

go for a walk or other physical doing for at least 30 minutes every day.

Most important advice: begin today.

eat food as close to their natural state as possible i.e. no/little processing. Also, eat lots of fruits and veggies. If you gotta eat bread, whole grain only.
