If you chew sugarless gum a lot, will it eventually be bad for you? I mean, I've heard that eating too much of anything is bad for you, but technically, you're not swallowing gum (Well, for the most part.) And in theory it cleans your teeth after meals. So is there anything unhealthy about it?

I was just reading yesterday that while sugarless gum may be better for you than gum with sugar, it is still not good. Many of the artificial sweeteners are implicated in causing cancer in large doses (probably way more than you'd get with gum). Also, the thing I read said that while sugarless gum doesn't contain "sugar" per se, look at the ingredients and you will probably find dextrose, which is ---- another kind of sugar!

Actually, Trident claims that chewing its gum which contains xylitol is good for your teeth! It reduces cavities and because it's sugarless, doesn't contain as many calories either.
