Tomatoes will do it. So will mushrooms, artichokes, Navy beans, kidney beans, yellow squash, tofu, Soy milk (vanilla and coffee are so yummy!!!), most orange-colored fruits and vegetables (acorn squash, apricots, orange juice, papaya, peaches, cantaloupe).

You can also take a potassium supplement, but don't overdo it or you can put your heart into an arrythmia.

If you don't want to eat foods you don't like, talk to your doctor about the potassium packets. Food sources are better choices, but if you absolutely can't do it, try the packets. You just mix it with water.

Also, you can have those foods and just prepare them in a fun way. What about a banana/strawberry smoothie? Or, a big salad with a few Spinach leaves? Just get creative. It's doable. It's certainly better than the alternative (contant dizziness and feeling sick), isn't it?

Nope those were all the things that I was going to tell you to do. I agree with you on the Gatorade it tastes horrible but the other stuff I love and it is not only helping you with getting potassium but it is a good diet plan in general to have those things in your normal diet.

All meats, poultry and fish are high in potassium. Apricots (fresh more so than canned), Avocado, Banana, Cantaloupe, Honeydew, Kiwi , Lima beans, Milk, Oranges and orange juice, Potatoes (can be reduced to moderate by soaking peeled, sliced potatoes overnight before cooking),Prunes, Spinach,Tomatoes, Vegetable juice, Winter squash. If your unable to raise your level with diet, see your Dr. they may put you on a supplement.

You can google potassium and get all the info you want. your potassium level must not have been significant since your md did not prescribe supplements. there is orange juice with added potassium. potatoes have K+ along with other green vegetable and fruits. if you are still experiencing dizziness get another md. yours just brushed you off telling you it was due to low potassium.

Foods rich in potassium include: Banana, apple, green leafy veggies -- spinach, broccoli, cabbage etc.
Apple is a good alternative rich in potassium if you dont like the other stuff. :-)
Now isnt that worth 10 points??

Glass of orange juice- 500 mg; avocado (best) 1,200 mg; medium potato 800; raisins 400 mg; banana 400 mg. These are highest. Someone said celery- one large stalk has only 115 mg. No gatarade-- manmade chemical drink that causes more tooth decay than soft drinks.

But you should not have low potassium level unless you have terrible diet with soda and pizza and no fruits and vegetables. See this site for healthier diet.

Actually, celery has the highest amount of potassium in it. Celery is your best bet, and they also make potassium supplements, they are with the other vitamins at the grocery store. But bananas are good too.

Use the banana and make a smoothie. This is how I do it:

1 banana
1/4 cup frozen berries of your choice
8 oz. vanilla yogurt
splash of OJ or cranberry juice
scoop of vanilla soy protein power, if desired
2 ice cubes

Mix all that up in the blender and enjoy as breakfast or a late night treat.
