Why do you assume all muslims are under such people?
There are no "terrorists" ruling over Turkey, or Indonesia. Similarly, the large muslim population of India would be unlikely to overthrow the president of the world's largest democracy, who happens to be a muslim.
Lebanon was a democracy that did try to overthrow their Syrian overloads.... that is, until Israel started bombing them.
Maybe a better question is, "Why won't western powers leave well enough alone, and let muslim societies evolve naturally, instead of constantly micro-managing them, propping up their dictators (in Egypt, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia), and conquering them?"
Ever since the decline of the Ottoman empire, Europe and other western nations have constantly been picking the leaders, redesigning the national borders, invading, merging nations, dividing nations, installing sheiks and kings, removing sheiks and kings.... until the cows came home. For two hundred years, people in the west have been interfering in the development of muslim societies, whose lands they inherited from the Ottomans. The irony is that when they inherited the middle east from the Ottoman Empire, they promised to set everyone free.... and yet two hundred years later, we're still going in and re-conquering their countries every time one of their countries (whose borders we in the west established in the first place) does something we don't personally agree with.
Maybe everything would work out just fine if we didn't constantly monkey with the evolution of their societies....

The dictators and terrorists are supported by the lower class because they use propaganda and fear. The people have no legitimate power or avenue against them which makes it hard. The muslims also has no great leader that is not a dictator or a terrorists. Not everybody can be a George Washington when they gain so much power as a leader and then tell them to help the people and give up power.

This is a complex question...no easy answers can be found (oh yeah I also asked a question like this...but hopefully you get a better response).
I know that many leading Muslim Scholars have condemned terrorism...so have many Muslim Government leaders. But I dont care about them because they are a small group of people when compared against the millions of people who follow the religion and live in the Muslim countries. I care about what the common followers think...because In case you didnt notice...the people are the true battleground of this war...not Iraq or some sand pit in the middle of nowhere. Whether you side with the righteous or you side with Osama and Fiends determines who's gonna win in the end...and frankly from what I see most of the muslims people are leaning towards the latter (I hear mostly silence...and for me silence is tantamount to complicity with the terrorists)...Why they are like that? there are too many reasons to list.

Stupid question1
Why don't you ask: Why don't Muslims rise up against dictators and get themselves killed?
What would happen to them with all the police-forces and armies these dictators keep?
And who would protest against terrorists in a place were laws don,t mean squat?
By the way, there are lots of silly questions here that just a little personal thinking would solve.

Because they're afraid. I know that's a simple answer, but it's true. They've been ruled this way for so long and have been threatened to be killed, tortured, etc, by these dictators and are too afraid to stand up against them, even if the majority of the threat is gone. Also, it's basically become a way of their life.. It's not like they can just suddenly abandon it.. it's going to take time for them to get used to the idea of freedom.

Once you start justifying your wordly gains with religious explanations...you automatically gain sympathy on principle basis..
Thats the general concept in Muslim countries.
Just because the guy has a beard and a cleric outlook..he will be respected more than his same-aged peers...Even though if he is a dork and partys out in secrecy!
Terrorism as you see it in the Muslim world is more accurately traced to the 'Wahabi/Salafi' group of Muslims..They are able to override other Musim masses becasue of their backing from Saudi Arabia...
Its indeed a very complex tangled situation..I wish it would dawn on non-muslims that Islam (or for that matter any other religion) never advocates for the killing of another human being...and strictly condemns terrorism..or even imposition of Islam!

The terrorists and dictators use the Islam religion as a shield to hide behind. They make the people believe to go against the rulers is to go against Islam. No one wants to ignore their religion.
The terrorists and dictators also label any one they don't like as Infidels to keep the people in line.
Misinterpreting the Holy Word works wonders for those wanting to oppress a group of people. With GOD or ALLAH supposedly behind them...they can do as they please.

The same thing could be said about, just about anyone. Take school for example. A kid 1 gets picked on just about everyone, but then there's this other kid 2, that just doesn't say anything only watches. Why wont that kid 2, stand up for kid 1?
Here's another example, a boss treats a number of his employee's unfairly, for whatever reason. One of the employee's that doesn't get treated unfairly, just sits back and watches, never saying a word. He even has regular meetings with the boss, but never says a word to him about how he treats the other employee's. Why doesn't this employee, say anything. He knows what the boss is doing, is wrong, but he just lets it be.
I could continue to go on, but I think you get the point.
Fear is a powerful enemy, it prevents you from doing a lot of things.

Because they are misleaded by some bed people. All of Muslims look at Christians as a competitive religion who has one advantage to much, which is the military power. They fill that Allach is weaker than God because they are weaker than christians. And for sure they like Allach be great. They do not have the muslim superpower who would secure them against their local enemies like christians have. I think that they look with hope at any enemy of christian superpower because of that lack of lidership. And that is bad, because they are used for purpose. In my opinion the key to stop all that is assuming by Muslim people that their security is also in best interest of USA and all world and it shall be protected. The fear is the worst enemy of peace.

When they rise up against the dictators who rule over them, they are labeled terrorists.
It's a lose-lose situation.
