Eat small meals often. If you can, eat 5 small meals a day. Restrict your carbs, too. The Atkins diet works pretty well if you find a good regimen for yourself. My dad has been doing it since the 70's. It was originally designed as a Diabetic Diet.
Essentially, you count your carbs from sugars. Avoid trans-fats.
Contrary to the media misinformation, you can do a vegan atkin's diet. But, you don't have to.
Avoid Nutrasweet, too. It can actually make you hungrier.
Splenda works great as an alternative sugar supplement.
I'd suggest cutting out sodas altogether if you haven't already.
As far as exercise. I was once told by a nurse a quick and simple thing to do. Hold your breath for 60 seconds. Deeply/slowly Exhale/Inhale five or six times. Then repeat. Do it six times. Do that every day and you'll give your body a workout similar to a 20-minute cardio workout.
*Get a checkup by your doc before starting any type of program, though. This will give you a baseline for your progress as well as keep the doc aware of your intent to better your health.

It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way you have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin. Not a diet, but diet lifestyle.
Find out about fastest way to lose weight, gradual ways to lose weight, most effective exercise and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which also makes you a lot fatter (bloated). Plus click on "Pure Water" to make sure the water you drink doesn't hurt you. Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

Drink a lot of water every day (at least 2 liters), but drinking more doesn't hurt, but actually the more the better. Drink a full glass half an hout before meals and that should inhibit your appetite and thus make you eat less. Do not drink during meals cuz that is believed to mess up yout digestion, but there're opinions otherwise.
Anyway, drinking water, lots of it, is the best way I know to lose weight.

The number one way to lose weight after giving birth is to BREAST FEED. Not only is it vital to your child's health, it also kicks your body's metabolism into overdrive because it burns a great deal of energy in creating the milk, and you often come out of it weighing less than you did before you got pregnant in the first place.
