when was the Quran revealed and why?

Not really important when it was revealed. Not really imported the faulty logic to link all the verses to sabab al nazul (purpose of revelation).
The only important part is the message which has to be read understood and follow. This is what all Muslims have to understand.

the Holy Quran was brought down to the earth in the Holy month of Ramazan. It was revealed a little later.
Its a guideline for Muslims- telling them what is right and wrong.

the Holy Quran went down on Muhammad step-by-step thru his 20s years prophecy. then in the month of Ramadan all came down. then the Quran has been put in order as it shown today. the opening book chapter is in the beginnning for example.

Jesus has died more than a 1000 years during that time.Don"t you think his teaching might be corrupted by then(Saul of Tarsus would be the main culprit then-St. Paul).God send his last messenger Muhammad s.a.w. to bring back people to submit to the one and only God, as what Jesus really preach.
