There is no legal way to download the current release MS Word for free.
However, you do have several options:
1. Use the open source office suite OpenOffice.org which now genuinely rivals MS Office in terms of features.
2. Download the beta version of MS Office 2007. Note that, as a beta release, this may be unstable and could cause loss of data.
3. If you just have a few documents you need to work with and your computer is generally connected to the internet, the online thinkfree suite does not even require downloading and installing anything.

I would not suggest downloading software off of limewire or any programs like it for the following two reasons.
1. It can infect your computer with spyware and a virus.
2. When you download your updates for windows, it will be able to tell whether any of the microsoft software you have is legal. And if it is not a legal version, bad things will happen.
If you go to this microsoft web site, there are some software and programs that you can download, that is free and are all legal.

Download Microsoft Office 2007 Beta trial: http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview/beta/testdrive.mspx?showIntro=n
Limewire will not help because eventhough you will donwloas Word, you will need a key number to be able to use it. Also, OpenOffice.com programs are not compatible and are the worst software programs you can have, but they are free all the time.

Try open office instead. It is just like office, but it is totally legal to download. It can read from and write to office files.
