I use a mix of baking soda. hydrogen peroxide and club soda. It works well on my dog who manages to get skunked yearly.

Here is the recipe we used at an Animal Control Shelter in Texas:

1 quart of hydrogen peroxide (lower is better..3% is great)
1/4 cup baking soda
1 1/2 tsp of shampoo or dishwashing liquid (w/ a pleasant scent)

Mix well. Using a sponge, rub mixture all over animal. Be extra careful around the nose and eyes (you don't want to burn them.)
Leave on for one minute. Rinse in luke warm water. Let him shake and dry him with a towel. He should now smell substantially better. (THANK YOU BAKING SODA!!) You may want to add a spray of doggie cologne if any mild odor remains.

The dog should do a normal shake and roll in the dirt or on the carpet. He may sulk a while because he has got his feeling hurt twice-First a skunk sprays him...then he had to have a bath!!!

Good luck with your stinky friend! ;)

The baking soda nad peroxide is the best but leave it sit on the dog for 10-15 minutes
It will remove much more odor if you leave it sit on the dog for longer.
My dogs get skunked about every couple of months. I keep all of this stuff in the cabinet all the time.

Been there done that and there is a shampoo they use called skunked be gone. It worked great its a little pricey but worth it there was no smell at all even when she was wet again. Best of luck hope it helps. I called the groomer and they had me bring her in they had the shampoo on hand.

Four different home remedies
Tomato juice (4-8 large cans and soak for 20 min.), then season to taste...oops! I mean rinse off. Groomers warn that light furred dogs might turn pink.

Vanilla extract (2 cups) combined with a gallon of h2o. Use shampoo after 15 minutes to rinse out.

Feminine douche (2-4 ounces) and 1 gallon of water (author looks at his feet). Use shampoo to rinse out of the dog after 15 minutes.

1-quart hydrogen peroxicide (3% USP), 1/4 cup baking soda, teaspoon dish soap.

Tomato juice only neutralizes the smell.

1 quart 3% hydrigen peroxide
1/4 cup baking soda
1 tsp. liquid soap
Work into the coat and rinse well.

Good luck....

Vinegar is cheap and easy, plus although it is smelly at first, it actually works as a deodoriser and flea repellent!
