Since yesterday I noticed that my cat's right eye has been somewhat closed. I looked in the eye and the white part seems to be a little red. When I put hot compresses on her eye, it seems to be a little better for about 20 minutes. I am taking her to the vet this afternoon, but I must admit that I am a little worried.

It's probably either conjunctivitis (basically kitty pink eye) or a scratch. When you go to the vet he will probably put some dye in your cats eye and look at it through a black light to see if it's scratched. If it's scratched he'll give you some medicine.
It may be kitty pink eye which my cat gets all the time. There's no reason for it, it just happens. It's pretty easy to cure and shouldn't cost that much. The vet will give you some gel like medicine to use like twice a day.
Your kitty should be fine!

The problem with your cats eye is that it is surrounded with the rest of the cat. Take it to the vet and ask to have the eye removed. This should solve the eye problem as it will now be free to do what ever it is that you think eyeballs are supposed to do without being encumbered by the cat. Hope this helps.

This sounds like feline conjunctivitis, which is common and can have a variety of causes - allergies or by bacterial, fungal or viral infections. It may even be caused by the herpes virus. It can spread from cat to cat, so I would isolate my pet. If it is conjuctivitis, your vet will probably prescribe some eyedrops.

I'm sure your cat will be okay. The vet will figure out what's wrong. Try not to worry so much. Hope everything goes well.

the vet will probably just give you a drop to put in his eye...more than likely he just caught a draft from the a/c or a ceiling fan and he may have a slight infection...trust me he will be fine...dont worry
