she's only 3 months old and since i got her a month ago, she tinkles in hercage and pooed in it. now, she won't poo in her cage and shewasn't peeing if i take her out right away. i know she's a chi which means she has a smaller than normal bladder and she's a puppy so its weak. but around how many months of age should i expect my chi, after good training, to be house broken where if i let her out she will let me know when she has to go instead of just making a lovely stain on the carpet?

Their bladders mature slow...So an hour equals a month. Three months should be able to go three hours. Take her out or to her pee pee pads upon waking, after eating and playing. Praise her when she pees where you want her to. Ignore the other. Hope this helps. =)

Litterbox or paper training was the answer for me. My chihuahua had to pee every 20 minutes so housetraining was not an option. At least if there is one place in the house where she can go, then you've accomplished something --good luck

It just depends how hard you work at it. Put her on a schedule!
