I know that saving money is important, but scimping on training your dog is not a good idea.

Petsmart classes are ok... but they are expensive. I would look for a local dog training club. Most clubs offter obedience classes and you get alot more time and attention. Petsmart classes cost around $100 for 6-8 1/2 hour sessions. I can't speak for all clubs, but our local training club offers a series of 8-one hour sessions for $65. Classes are taught by volunteers, but these people have been trained and most show their dogs in obedience. Good luck!

Petsmart is fine, but your local vet may know of some good, inexpensive trainers too. Your dog probably sees your toddler as "competition", and the dog is trying to establish dominance over her. You need to let the dog know that you are boss , and she must not bite people. When she nips, grab her muzzle firmly with your hand (but not to hurt her) and say "No Bite!". If you do this consistently, she will learn that is bad behavior.

Good Luck.

Basic obedience classes are not expensive. Usually from $40-80. If you cannot afford that, you should not have a dog.
