I have this STAR Alliance Round the World ticket and my flights within Brazil this August 3 Sao Paolo to Rio de Janeiro and onward 8Aug Rio to Sao Paolo onward to Miami are cancelled, it says that flights are not operating! I am here in the Middle East and there is no VARIG agent here and agents here are not aware of what's going on at Varig. Is there some kind of airline strike or something? Thank you for your informations.

Yes, Varig is bankrupt and they werent able to pay for fuel etc., so the only route they are flying right now is Rio - Sao Paolo. All other routes are cancelled for now.

They have been sold to an international consortium a couple days ago and they expect to have some routes in a few weeks.
