Why did Hector Camacho Sr. fight so few rematches?

I know he had a few (Houk, Haugen, Duran), but he missed out on rematches that he should have had with guys like Mancini and Chavez. What gives?

Good question.
Hector "El macho" Camacho took a beating everytime he went up to the ring, His liver suffered most of the damage there. That affiliated with his drugs and alcohol problems were a mayof factor to miss most of his rematches and other main events in boxing. Shame, because the man knew how to box and put up a good show at the same time.

Interesting I never thought about that. He has fought everybody. Another boxer that claimed to never fight the same man twice was Thomas "the Hit Man" Hearns. Going into his match with Haglar his claim was he never needed to, though I'm sure he would have liked to have fought Haglar again. The only one I know that he had a rematch with was Leonard but that was eight years later and meant nothing although he did probably win the judges made it a draw despite the fact that he knocked Leonard down twice. ooooo that would have been a good fight HEarns and Camacho. I rambled enough keep up the good questions :o)

Sorry people (some of you), but Chamaco could not even carry Hearns' jock strap. A fight between Hearns and Chamaco would be a gross mismatch. Chamaco was a light wt. (135 lbs). Hearns fought at 147, 154,160, 168 and 175 (he held titles in all these divisions.

He had a drug and alcohol problem which intensified in the prime of his career. He had the potential to become one of the better lightweight fighters of the era, but lacked focus because of his outside issues.
