There is a bleed someplace in the intestine. If it is red colored, it is close to the end of the intestine.
You really had better get to a vet SOON!!!!!!!!!! There is a vet in another area!!!!!! You need to go!!!!!!!!! Passing large clots is not a good sign!!!!!!!!!

It isn't Parvo in a 5 year old dog, it is not the kidney, and being in heat does NOT produce large clots!!!!!!!!!!! There is intestional bleeding close to the end of the intestine. If the blood is dark, almost black that means it is farthur up the intesting..like the stomach.
Parvo does not produce large CLOTS!!!!!

Pooping blood is a very bad sign,as you are obviously aware. There could be many reasons for this, without other symptoms its very difficult. Your vet is closed, but they MUST have an emergency vet,or a phone number you could ring. Phone your vets, they may have left a recorded massage, ours do. Failing that, get your phone book, and see if there are any more near you What about emergency animal hospitals? any of those near you? Ask friends, neighbours if they are aware of of any.Really and truly, your dog should have been seen by the vet at the first sign of blood in his feces.,the longer these things are left, the worse your dog will become. It makes much more sense to get your dog assessed straight away. I hope your dog will be ok,I wish him/her well.Good luck.

Blood in the stool is known as Hematochezia, which is most commonly caused by bacteria, parasites, viruses, intolerance for a new food, cancer in the lower bowel, polyps in the colon or lower intestines, IBD, or a blow to the anal area or abdomen. So, the best thing to do is to take your dog to an animal hospital since your vet is not open and the dog should really be seen right away. The symptom the dog is having can point to a wide range of different causes, some serious and some minor, as you can see.

I have a Boston Terrier who had a similar problem. He would scoot around on his butt and would scream in pain when he had to poop and had blood in it too. My uncle knows a lot about dog and swore he had worms. After I took him to the vet he explain to me that small dog “opening” are not very big and the waste get built up around the opening and have to be cleaned out. The vet had to insert his finger in clean it out (yuck) (and do some more stuff) matter of fact I have to take him back. Do you have him on any worm meds? I think he should be fine until the vet opens. Hope that helps

I am going through the same problem but my parents won't pay for any real medicine or a vet. My mom wants to use natural "cheap or free" remedies to cure my dog of this butt inflammation and bloody pooping! My dog also has the mange "demodex mites" and my mom won't do anything about it thats not vinegar! Her stupid natural cures are NOT working and my dog is suffering. I can't do anything about it because I have no job. And she just got layed off at work so my mom Is becoming even cheaper with her money! She refuses to go to any vet because of the money and won't buy real medicines that work, only vinegar

There has to be an emergency vet clinic somewhere in your area. Get the number, call, and make an appointment TODAY. Blood is a very good indicator that something is seriously wrong. Don't wait.....your dog is depending on you for help!!!

Check the phone book for a 24 hour emergency vet hospital. Most cities have at least one. If there is none, call the humane society or animal shelter to see if their vet is on hand or if they have a recommendation. Who knows what could be wrong, but it doesn't sound good. I hope it turns out to be nothing serious.

Dogs don't poop blood when they are in heat. Is there not an emergency vet in your area that you can get to? Sounds like she needs help fast.
