Puberty may be the cause of your sleep disruptions!! it's fairly common as well as leg cramps and other physical or hormonal changes!!! but i think you should go see your family doctor, he may have some practical solutions for you.
Try drinking warm milk before bed or eating a banana, both have potassium and that has a natural seditive like effect.

Do you always think about things when you can't sleep? Such as late homework, friends, family, etc? If not, I would suggest heating up a big glass of milk and drinking it warm. It activates enzymes that promote relaxation and sleep. If that doesn't work, turn the FAN on full blast in your face.

We are so wired in todays society that it is so hard to shut down when we try to go to sleep, 13 is a little young to have to rely on sleep medicine, and after you take it awhile, it no longer works, because your body will get used to it.
My sister takes tylenol PM or advil pm and she said it works for her.
But in all honesty, you should try normal ways to try to sleep, whether it be through counting or relaxing exercises.

Don't take naps, don't watch TV or play games all day, get involved in some kind of physical activity to make you tired.

Looks like you have insomnia which is a common sleeping disorder. You need to talk to your parents about it, & they need to take you to your doctor. Lack of sleep is not healthy for anyone especialy a 13yr old, your boduy needs to rest. So you realy should talk to your folks about it.

Watch 'An Angel At My Table' directed by Jane Campion, Its so boring it will put your right to sleep... but I do admit that there is some very unnessisary content in it that you would most likely not like to see... yet it is VERY boring.
