By now she should have been referred to special education services through her public school. Definitely stick with the public schools- private and contract schools usually lag way behind in knowledge and care. She should have been seen and diagosed by a doctor- your family doctor or pediatrician is probably a high enough level of specialist. After the child is placed, you will be expected to go talk to her teachers about her development at least once a year, but you may want to see them more often than that.

are you in the USA? you should call your local county mental health/mental retardation office. ask about Wraparound services. i live in PA and work in an office that delivers these services. do you utilize ABA techniques? PECS? does she have speech services? i think help for autistic kids is getting better and better out there and when children receive services early enough, there diagnosis can be lowered on the autistism spectrum. good luck to you.
