Why does the bite hurt??

I was bit by a yellow fly and it hurt more than anything! It wasn't your typical mosquito bite. It felt like a needle! Why?

Maybe because that fly has bigger sting, and it bit deeper than usual mosquitoes. Deeper bite that reaches the subkutan (under skin-latin) hurts more, because it reaches the nerves, rather than "shallow" bite.
