I've just paid a pound. A f*cking pound? I KNOW what tea costs! I make it all the time!
They also charge excessive amounts for a set breakfast, but then try to justify it by putting a bit of basil on the tomato... I KNOW how much basil costs too and it's not the £2 you've just slapped on the price of my breakfast....
And does anyone actually believe they are getting two sausages, rather than one bad sausage sliced down the middle with the curved sides pointed upwards, momentarily to create the illusion of two bad sausages?
Why don't they just have done with it and move their entire family into my f*cking house!

Yes - BUT if you think about how much commercial rents are - and how many (comparatively inexpensive) servings would you need to just cover the rent? And cafes can't sell the top range items like wine and spirits to try and recoup.
To be honest I am still surprised how the coffee shops manage - when people take over half an hour over their coffees - even at 4 or 5 pounds a pop...

You are not paying just for a cup of tea. You are paying for the cafe's rent, staff wages, electricity, heat, water, rates, insurance, tables, chairs, breakages, staff salaries, repairs and renewals, cups, sugar, milk, and yes, a teabag. And on top of all those expenses the cafe' is trying to make a profit, which is why it iexists in the first place. I doubt that cafe' guy drives a new Bentley home to watch his 108" LCD TV in his mansion each night.

If you don't wanna pay the price, stay out of the cafe....and with language like yours, I'm sure the cafe owners would be glad your passing the door rather than walking in through it.

nobody is able to enforce you to pay a price which seems to you being inadequately. it all depends on supply and demand, and every price both sides are accepting voluntarily is fair.
obviously there are enough people who are willing to pay the price, so there´s no problem for the supplier - as long as no competitor sees a business opportunity in offering something in the same quality to you for less.

Overheads, wages, rent, maintenance, stock, insurances etc
running a business is a nightmare, if you are sat at a table drinking a £1.00 cup of coffee for 1/2 hour..... you are costing them money!!!!

Fry-ups and caffeine are making you angry. I suggest you eat raw carrots for a while.
