yeah i have seen a bird drink water, we used to keep all sorts of birds of prey and train them, anything from harris hawks, to a red tail hawk, and a buzzard, she used to go and drink from an old bin lid, by sipping the water and throwing her head back to swallow it , she loved her bath as well,

Of course birds drink, other than those like the hummingbird, which has a mostly liquid diet and doesn't need to drink on top of that. Watch birds in puddles or bird baths and you will see them drinking. In fact, providing a source of water is a good way to attract birds to your yard. See the link for more interesting facts on birds & water.

Yes,

I have a bird bath in my garden which i top up regularly with fresh water and see lots of garden birds using it.

If the water is close to a feeding station it is possible to observe them using it for drinking.

Of course birds drink water,no-one can live without water.
There isn't a nicer sight, the little birds put their beaks in the water, throw their heads back and swallow.
Just put up a bird table outside your window, put scraps of bread or peanuts and water and watch them both eat and drink.

I looked at your question and I thought 'I bet some pratt will say something like Gin and Tonic' and sure as hell, the first answer....
HOWEVER... Yes - of course birds drink water. Why do people always have a bowl for seed and a bowl for water in a bird-cage, and as well as bathing, lots of birds use my bird-bath as a source of water and for that reason I keep it topped up, especially this weather.

Of cos, birds drink and seep water every day more especially during spring season.
Back in my home town they sometimes grow so desperate for water that they got drown inside a bucket or water reservoir not quite full of water. They also take their bath and play around in a pool or pond of water. Oh! it is a wonderful sight to behold. You should really try to see one and i bet you will not regret it.
Good luck and have a wonderful day.

Yes. My cousins used to own a parrot, and when I stayed with them I had the possibility to observe him. He did drink water.

I have also seen pigeons and sparrows drink water. But then, I like watching birds, especially was used to it when I was being lagged along by my mother and had to sit in for some of her outdoors chats.

Look at ducks, they scoop it up regularly (along with small insects, grass and whatever else is edible and floats). Birds with pointy beaks can't drink quite as easily, but they bathe a lot and take it up through the skin. Also, with a dinner consisting of fruit and insects, they take in water that way. Birds of prey and canaries, with their shorter beaks, are known to open their beaks and sip water with their tongues. Also, in pet shops you can see canaries lurking at water bottles much like rabbits do.
