What God did no one knows. It is certain that He did create this universe. It could not have come from no where since as per laws of conservation of mass it can neither be created nor destroyed. Therefore only God could accomplish such a feat. It has been the endeavor of man to understand the mysteries of nature and offer logical or rational explanations to explain such a phenomena. Big bang theory is one such theory which tries to explain how it all started. Not complete in itself it suffers from singularities not fully explained.

I don't know if there really was a Big Bang the way that scientists believe it happened, but yes, since God was the only one around then, it had to have come from Him.

No. There is (was) no such thing as the Big Bang.
Cyclic-Universe Theory is the way it really happened.
Abandon the Big Bang Theory. It just makes us look foolish in the eyes of Christians. Go with Cyclic-Universe Theory. It even conforms to religion (Hindu) in certain ways.
