I know some preachers who believe that this will be nuclear war.
Again, it was a prophesy that the writer had to explain in terms that he knew in that day, and there were no nukes back then.

many of your questians (not all) will never be answered by science because science is not completed and yesterday some scientists deny God but today they see the thins beyound the reach then they believe the Creator.. and vise versa..
so don't defend on science it failed in many ways toprove God
and dont regret of believing such.....
