Some more information: By "Jesus Freak" I don't mean all Christians. There is a particular group of people (mostly young) who self-identify as "Jesus freaks" and that is who I am particularly asking.

I'm particularly curious how (or if) they reconcile their attempts to out-holy everyone on the planet with what the Bible says about how to pray and how to worship. I don't see how they can be bound for anywhere but hell according to their own faith unless they realise their sin and ask forgiveness.

I have become encreasingly disenchanged with the Christian religion and most particularly the charismatic church and am contemplating whether God exists as the Bible portrays Him.

I'm not Christian, but I do believe in Jesus as I go to a Catholic school. I don't 'pray in public' as a sign of my belief. Praying is a private thing and should be done at home or in a religious environment, that's what I believe. Even praying and practicing your religion, like all things has its limits.

If Jesus freaks follow the Bible they don't love to pray in public. Matthew 6:5

I try to follow the Bible, it's an ongoing process. The whole "becoming holier with each day" thing.

In reference to praying in public, I don't usually unless I feel like I need to pray about something in that exact second and it can't wait. But usually I don't look like I am praying, so people don't know. Like in the lunch room at work before I eat I usually stare out the window for a bit, people think I'm just spacing out.

"'When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.'" (Matthew 6:5)

Yes I know the bible decent. I have forgotten more than most know. I guess that sounds like I am bragging but I aint. Most people go on traditions of men instead of reading the bible for themselves. I do not like to pray in public for the world to see me. The bible says to enter into your closet. Which means a private place. People should see Christ through me and thats how belief in Him should come through seeing Christ in us Christians.

I believe in Jesus and in what the Bible says, however, the Bible is a spiritual guide for me and not a literal history. You can read in it what you need to at the moment if you ask God to lead you. I am not ashamed to pray in public, but that is not the only place to pray. The Bible tells me to pray in private and not to use public prayer for my own ends.

I'm not sure who you consider a "Jesus freak"... I guess that is your nomenclature for a Christian... so I will guess tha it applies to me and my family...

I try to follow the Bible...

yes, there are occassions when I do pray in public but I do not do it to show my belief... such as at picnics, family gatherings, etc... I do it to thank God for his blessings and to ask for other blessings that I think those around me need (along with myself)...

a major portion of my prayers are in private.

I follow my Bible and I do read it and pray. I prefer to pray in private. I am a private person but I will ask the blessing on my food in a restaurant. Does that bother you?
