I have a JVC television
a Toshiba VCR/DVD combi unit and
a Ntl cable 'set top box'

Each unit has 2 scart sockets, and I have3 scart leads.

Can you please tell me how the connections should be made so tthat the whole system will operate satisfactorily.

The cable box should be connected to the cable signal, then SCART 1 out of the cable box to the TV SCART in, and SCART 2 out of the cable box to VCR SCART in. Finally, SCART out of the VCR to SCART 2 in on the TV. This should get everything working as you want it, allowing you to view TV and Videos and also record the TV.

Preumably the set top box will have 2 output scart sockets.

The VCR/DVD combi should have 1 input scart and 1 ouput scart socket.

The TV should have 2 inputs:

Therefore connect
"set top box output 1 to TV input 1"
"set top box output 2 to VCR/DVD combi input"
"VCR/DVD combi output to TV input 2"

That should give you "set top box" on TV channel AV1, "VCR/DVD" on TV channel AV2, and let you record to VCR from your set top box.

Hope this helps.

I would put the NTL out to VCR in.
then VCR out to TV in.

This way you can record Cable and Terrestrial.

The NTL box should cut out when you play DVD's, but if it doesn't, then just put the NTL box on standby when you watch a DVD.

You can bridge all three units but the simplest way is to buy a 4-way Scart adapter.
