Hi there..

My little girl had a uti at 2 months and at 4 months old.. She is now 22 months old and never had another one... Most people think that when little girls get utis its from not wiping properly but thats not always the case.. I always wiped her front to back, never double wipe and bathed her daily... So when she got sick I didnt understand why.. The Dr. did all of the tests to make sure it wasnt her anatomy and it wasnt so he put her on antibiotics for 10 days.. Then 2 months later she got another one and he then put her on antibiotics again for 10 days and then a very small daily dose for 6 months... She has never gotten another one.. My Dr. said that like grown women sometimes little girls and little boys can be proun to them.. Sometimes kids poop and before you can change it there is a huge mess.. Sometimes its a sensitivity to bubble bath.. My Dr. said most kids grow out of them which my daughter did. so, don't blame yourself sometimes kids just get them and my very well respected kidney Dr. said sometimes we just don't know why... Good Luck... I hope whoever has a uti is all better:)

There are several things that could cause one. Sitting in the tub too long, staying in a wet diaper too long, etc. My daughter has a urinary condition that causes her to have UTIs, it's a urinary reflux that when her bladder is full the urine goes back to the kidneys before leaving her body. The urine will pick up all kinds of bacteria on the way back out and cause an infection. However, my daughter had her first at 4 months and from what I understand about the condition it usually presents itself pretty early and since you daughter is a toddler that may not be what's happening here. Although a friend of mine's daughter did not get her first UTI until she was over 1 year and it turned out she had reflux and they didn't know it. Talk with your pediatrician and see what they think.

It could be any number of things--dirty diaper, bath, something she ate or drank, pool water, etc. It DOES NOT mean you did anything wrong. It is part of the joys of being a mommy.

If this is the only one--don't worry. UTI's are a way of life for women, unfortunately. If she continues to get them or gets another one soon, consult with your pediatritician about testing for other factors such as bladder infection or a physical problem.

Good Luck!

kool aid, tang, any powder type of drink can cause uti in toddlers. baby powder. or even some drinking waters in some areas. some kids are just prone to uti`s. bubble baths can be a problem. tight diapers or underpants can cause problems. even ocean water can. today enviroment is harsh on adults. but kids.... goodness.. wishing you luck!

Hello-
My daughter would frequently get this. (Urinary Tract Infections..."Bladder infection".) I was born with a birth defect where a tube leading from the kidney to bladder was malformed. We suspected that in my daughter as well. Turns out she does have it along with a condition called "reflux". Her urine travels back into her kidneys leading to infection. It is very serious. Ignoring it will ruin kidneys. A procedure called "DEFLUX" helps fix the problem.
There could be other reasons, but this was my case. Hope it helps. See her pediatrician along with a urologist as soon as possible.

Bubble Baths are BAD for girls along with other scented oils for the bath water. Pediatrcians will tell you not use these products with your little girl.

maybe it's the diapers she's using or if she "poopoo"you didn't washed thoroughly or maybe the wipes you are using.
