We should (in the UK) revert to imperial measures (pounds, inches, gallons), and old money (shillings, etc). Using candy-a*sed euro-socialist decimals has made us all mathematically lazy. If we were forced to count in multiples of 12, 14, etc, it would improve educational standards no-end in this country. They are doing very nicely in the USA with our old British imperial measurements! Any thoughts?

As an Engineer in Aeropsace I spend a lot of time converting between the two different sets of units. I think it is bad that shops have had to go decimal and hope that the Europeans don't get rid of our pint or quarter pounder!

I think it is more entertaining converting between different sets of units and it was also fun travelling across Europe before the advent of the Euro!

I think you are being ridiculous. Imperial measurments are the, most illogical way to measure stuff. Decimal is logical and can be easily cross referenced. It is straightforward, but still needs some kind of working out.

I don't think it would improve our educational standards at all. That would need better educational standards.

I do like the imperial pint, but only because it means you get an extra 68ml of beer than if you had a half litre ;-)

I certainly see your point, however the base unit of arabic numerals is 10, so using 12 or 14 as a base unit is not clever to start off with, but to revert to would be foolish.

Whats wrong with learning both, but it is causing problems with mechanical parts, my friend has a coach with imperial parts, but can only get metric ones now! same for the plumbing on older houses! and us old horse owners cannot get used to the fact that horses measured in hands.... are now measured in centimetres! confused????
