Prayer is an intimate conversation with God. I generally share what's on my mind and in my heart and most of what I pray for is for others. I do pray for myself and there's nothing wrong with that. Although there is no "magical formula" to follow there are good model prayers. The Lord's prayer is an excellent model, that is , the structure of the prayer NOT the exact words. Teh bible teaches that God doesn't desire repetitive prayers. A simple model to follow would be:
1. Acknowledge God (praise),
2. Confession
3. Supplication (requests)
The important thing in prayer is not the position you're in but the condition your heart is in. The closer you become to God, the more your prayers will represent what He wants to give you. Also remember that all prayers receive an answer. "NO" is an answer. All prayers receive one of 3 answers , Yes, no and wait. The key to prayer is perseverance. God wants us to continually present our requests to Him, and not quit praying just because we didn't get "our" answer.

Prayer is an important part of my life. It is the spring board from which I jump off my day. Sort of like diving into a pool. It is also the warm bath at the end of the day and the pick me up throughout it. I do pray for myself some but I find I do better when I spend most of my prayers on others. I tend to be selfish and I should just be grateful. God has given me so much that it is not right for me to ask anything else from Him for myself. He still keeps giving.
Peace Be With You,
Debra

I pray for whoever comes to my mind at the moment. But sure I pray for myself sometimes. Nothing wrong with that. I pray to be stronger in faith, pray for guidance on raising my children in certain circumstances, pray for me to be a good wife, etc. Everyone needs a little extra help.

Prayer is a very important part of my life, and I never pray for me, alone.

No I pray as someone or an issue comes to mind or for a need as I realize it. For me, prayer is a time to talk with God.

I pray to hear His voice and to see His face..but I ALWAYS pray for other people. And your prayers are even more powerful and blessed if you pray AND fast. It's Biblical. Also, don't forget praise and worship!!

Does prayer work? Hundreds of millions prayed for God to stop Hitler, but God did nothing and 30 million+ died. Either God is heartless, powerless, both, or does not exist at all.

No, I pray about my family, friends, teachers, pastors, pets, and I pray thanks! God has blessed us so much, we are just lucky to be alive in this world that he created. Always be thankful. Pray often. God bless you!
