It's the same thing as the catholic church absolving your sins...wishful thinking.

People interpret Holy Books according to their own way of thinking. Many of the negative things you point out in the Koran also dominate the New & Old Testament of the Bible. The way people lived 2000 years ago really shouldn't have such an impact on how we live today. Unfortunately religion and Holy Books are man made and cannot be infallible. Man has always been able to justify atrocities and barbarism in the name of "God", from slavery and imperialism, to terrorism and genocide religion seems to be an excuse to commit all sorts of ugly things.

The same way that people claim the Bible is compatible with modern values.

These books are thousands of years old, and sure, maybe to our Westernized civilization it may seem more moral to us (the bible, that is) but to them in the Middle-Eastern side that seems more in correllation to their lifestyle. Just like the South Africans drinking blood and sacrificing. There is no one true religion, and there never will be. Every part of the world has its own beliefs, and to be honest I believe the Japanese have the most recent and modern of all moralized beliefs because they respect one another the most.

Good question though.

You're right. I'm sure glad the Christian Bible doesn't have any bad things in it.

Oh, wait.

Edit: I've never read the Quran so I wouldn't know what's actually in there, but trying to infer that that's the ONLY so-called "Holy" book that contains disturbing passages is pretty ridiculous. Visit the below link to see what I mean.

The kuran or whatever you want to call it is just the same as the christian bible . It is a book written by man for man as a list of guidelines to live by . Since it was written by man it has to be flawed , because man is not the perfect being . A jihad is never compatible with modern values .

I heard Tim Lahay ( author of the left behind series) say yesterday that the quran was written by the devil. Makes sense to me.

I think someone gave you another book. None of what you mention above is actually in the Koran.

I think you should buy a different kopy and ask yourself who gave you the kopy of the Koran you are talking about - that must be someone trying to spread slander about the Islam.

Just as the christofacists claim the infallibility of their book, based on faulty logic, arrogance, and ignorance!!!

Just remember Jesus said in the last days;
"There shall arise false Christs and false prophets, ....insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive even the very elect".
Matt: 24.24

A good example is the trash posted by the previous poster.
Jesus said, "Many will come in my name (even quoting scripture) and shall deceive many".
Beware of Muslims!
