Here is a home remedy regimen for dry hair:
Use mayonnaise: Use a dollop of mayonnaise on the palm of the hand and massage it to the head and leave it on for five minutes before having the bath. The recommended time for the mayonnaise treatment is an hour.
Spray the beer: If you do not get any relief from using the mayonnaise, you can use beer as a good setting lotion that gives your hair the crisp, healthy and shiny look. You can pour some beer into an empty pump bottle and spray on the hair after shampooing and towel dry. Then you can style or blow-dry the hair.
Shampoo minimally: choose a shampoo for dry, damaged hair.
Condition your hair: Conditioner glues cuticles back to the shaft and lubricates them. It also prevents static electricity, thus preventing its frizzy appearance.
Cut off the split ends: Every six weeks or so

avoid any layered cuts, it will make look hair even thinner, don't bleach your hair, if you want to color it, use natural henna powder (e.g from Bodyshop) which will strengthen and condition it. Don't use flat irons more than once a week.
Sebastian salon hair care is the best for stressed hair. Other brands may be much cheaper but contain a lot of silicon which builds up on your stressed hair, making it look even duller. I achieved great results with Sebastian Laminates Shampoo and Deep Conditioning Hair Mask,Detangling Milk along with a Penetraitt Reconstructive Treatment. They are a bit pricy, but go a long way and if you do a bit research you can get good deals on ebay.

1. Take a break from any chemical treatments you have been doing to your hair. (coloring, etc)
2. Try not to blow dry or flat iron your hair -- UNLESS you use a heat protectant prior to using heat.
3. Don't use a protien shampoo/conditioner or a moisturizing shampoo/condtioner everyday. Shampoos and condtioners that are formulated for color treated hair are actually the gentlest for ALL hair types.
4. If you use a protien/strengthening shampoo/conditioner everyday -- the protien will actually build up on your hair and cause more breakage!
5. If you use a deep conditioner -- make sure to shampoo it out w/ a Clarifying shampoo -- again, if you leave it on the hair too long, it will cause breakage.
6. Drink water
7. Take a multivitamin.
These tips should help -- email me if you have any more specific questions, I would be glad to help!!!

You can massage a combination of sulfur powder, surgical spirit, almond oil and rose water or distilled water on your scalp to keep dandruff at out. Groom the wet hair can cause it to stretch and break. So don't comb or brush your hair when it's dry. Use the mild shampoos and conditioner to reduce pull on hair while combing. Use soft hairbrushes to minimize scalp irritation and pull on the hair shaft. Use hair dryer on low heat to reduce dryness and irritation of the scalp. Taking oil bath is very good for body and mainly to hair. It can make the hair soft and healthy and helps the hair to grow.
