The current UK drivers licence has photographic ID, can I use this to travel within EU countries or do I still need a passport?
I know that to travel to counties outside of the EU you need a passport but what about the EU if I do not plan to leave the EU boundries.

Is the current UK drivers licence not classed as an ID card then as it does have your name, photo and even address on it?

The quick answer to this is NO. But that 'no' is a bit odd; you can trave between countries in mainland Europe (member EU countries) without anyone checking your passport, especially when on trains. HOWEVER you can't get in or out of the UK without a passport, as it is a requirement that you go through UK immigration when legally entering or leaving the UK.

You need a passport of you set foot outside the UK - even going to Eire - as well as some other form of ID preferrably photographic ID. Your drivers licence on its own will NOT be sufficient.

The UK driving license is NOT classed as an ID. It is just a driving license, therefore you do need a passport.

i don't be responsive to the place u from. In Europe voters from worldwide places that agreed with Schengen Treaty are "border loose". they don't desire a passport. they simply desire a checklist with photograph so as that they could be regarded with the aid of the regulation enforcers if mandatory. no longer all eu nor eu community worldwide places shop on with Schengen. Exemple England. people from different continents don't have Schenguen. in case you're British or Irish, you will desire a passport to trip interior Europe. you is surely no longer waiting to trip with out passport. once you're a citizen of the different Schengen u . s ., you are able to trip with out passport as long as you have valid photgraphic identity.
