No offense intended, I'm curious though; is this how you'd address someone in your faith or is this exclusive to this format. I'd be very interested to observe the development of conversation along these lines.

LOL!

I'm a Christian, and use scripture to converse with other Christians whom I assume are familiar or who have asked about some point. Yet, no one, not even other Christians, understands those folks who use "reams of scripture" to attempt communication. That belongs in the "what are they thinking?" department. Christendom does often teach, however, that it is better to have one's thoughts filled with scripture than with "the cares of the world." Perhaps they miss the point of that, and want to show their knowledge. I think it pretty much comes down to inability to put themselves in the place of the listener or reader.

It is pointless to quote scripture to people who do not believe in the authority of those scriptures. This has been an undoing for many an evangelical Christian. They get themselves frustrated because they quote something that "proves" their point, only for it to be not taken seriously. Evangelicals need to stop with the phony prescribed methods of evangelism and simply be genuine Christians.

I should point out that scriptures are very valuable when speaking with someone who agrees that they are authoritative.

I think it is good to quote scripture because then it is not just you saying what you think but you are say what the bible says about it.
