Most of these people do not even understand the historicity of the Bible. They do not understand principles related to the proper interpretation of literature or how to determine the historical reliability of an ancient document. They have no real concept of the basis of belief or the implicatinos of what they believe. They know nothing of how to determine it's truthfulness or how they arrived at what they believe. They do not understand the difference between history and mythology, fantasy and reality.

As demonstrated by many of the earlier answers it is out of laziness. Earlier posters went to the extreme of attacking you for a question that offends their sensibilities and nothing more.
They ignore things that contradict and threaten to show their beliefs for what they are, myths. Instead they wantonly ignore that which is true and refuse to THINK in ways other than those dictated by the lead sheep with the smelliest butt or a book that is two thousand years old with no real proof of who wrote it or why. The only reason they believe this book to be true is that the book says it is the truth. This in its self is faulty logic, once again pointing out the lack of thought and obvious intellectual laziness of mythology cultists.

Because we live in a divisive and foolish culture. The lines are already drawn and everybody cautiously stays where they belong. Each group sits around talking to people they already agree with so they can continue to not think. This culture is very restrictive despite our "freedom of speech." We are held hostage by politically correct nonsense and status quo ignorance. Most people don't want to hear truth because it may make them act or feel guilty for not acting.

Long ago we lost the right of basic humanity to the power hungry. every person has a responsiblity to take account for their life. However the power hungry have gathered round them those who refuse to even open their eyes to see that they have a choice. Humanity has been enslaved by apathy and the sense that those who are in charge must be right because they are in charge. It is a logical fallicy that they will NOT change. It is what keeps them from takeing responsiblity for themselves.

Do you honestly want them to get as worked up about it as you are? Do you think it is a good thing to be upset and remain frustrated that not all see as you do? Nay my friend, leave them alone, for "blessed are those who have not seen, and yet believe" :)
